A good hotel for a low budget trip

It’s not really that easy to find a good hotel to stay during your travel. Good thing there lot’s of websites now offering a free booking site which you can find the cheapest to luxurious hotel. For honeymooners or those who really can afford an expensive accommodation, finding the right hotel is easy. Why it’s easy? because usually these hotels is the first thing that will appear in the search engine while browsing for hotel. We are also familiar with the most popular hotel such as (Hilton, Sheraton, Intercontinental, Movenpick, Ritz Carlton, etc.). The interior extravagant and food buffet that these hotels offers are the finest in this world. So far I’ve tried Movenpick and Ritz Carlton and I can say that “The price is just right” for what you pay. But of course we do know that “A budget traveler” doesn’t need an extravagant hotel. A budget traveler like me will always try to find the cheapest yet offers the safest place to stay. Here are the things that you need to note while choosing the right accommodation for your BUDGET TRAVEL.

    1. Always browse the hotels from cheapest to expensive.

Why not from expensive to cheapest? Well that’s why we called this a budget travel because we don’t really want an expensive hotel to stay. We want to make it sure that there is hotel around the place that offers a good accommodation yet it’s nice and tidy.

    2. Watch out for the reviews/score

Read the reviews from other travellers who already experienced to stayed in that hotel. They will surely tell you their honest opinions because it’s either they have experienced poor services or a very accommodating place. The score is relevant to this because the higher the score the better, Usually 10 is the highest.

    3. Don’t be fool by the stars.

5 star hotel doesn’t mean to have a good service all the time. Check out again the review and the scores from the other travellers. I’ve experienced a 5 star with a very low quality of service. So it’s not really about the star.

    4. Always try to find a hotel that is near to the MRT/Train Transit.

Really? of course! we don’t want to travel all the time using the cab because it’s too expensive. Either I suggest that you choose a hotel that is near to the MRT or Buses.

    5. Don’t choose the hotel that is near to the shopping malls.

Usually they are expensive. Because they think that it’s very convenient to walk from your hotel to mall. In my opinion traveling means going to their popular places not the shopping mall. Surely there is a mall in your country so I don’t see any reason for you to be addicted looking around in their malls.

    6. Choose the hotel with the free (included breakfast).

Actually included breakfast is a bit expensive than the hotel which doesn’t offer a breakfast. The reason why I want you to choose a hotel with breakfast included because traveling is tiring. I want you to have a full stomach and jump immediately to your destination after eating. You don’t want to waste your time looking for a cafeteria or food court to eat your breakfast. The main reason for this travel is to go ahead to your itinerary.

    7. Dormitory type

If you’re with a group of friends. Choose a dormitory that is good for 5 to 6 people. Usually they are the cheapest accommodation than hotel. It also offers included breakfast most of the time.

I want to share with you on how I choose my hotel when I was traveling. In Dubai, I choose the one with the discount. Sometimes you will see a red color that is offering percentage discount. I also consider the one which is near the Metro Station. It also has included buffet breakfast which is makes it more comfortable for me.

Next hotel is the Movenpick Hotel in Aqaba, Jordan. Actually this is a group trip with the hotel accommodation plus the itinerary. I love the food buffet and the views, beaches, pool and almost everything in here.

The next hotel is the Barcelo Cairo Pyramids Hotel. I was with my friends when we travelled here. So it’s a twin room bed. I like the food buffet here but not the service.

The Villa Hotel Apartments in Al Khobar is suited for a group of friends. We went here with my workmates and it has 2 separated apartment rooms. 3 bedrooms per apartment room. How cool is that? Unfortunately it has no buffet breakfast offer because it’s an apartment where you can use their cooking utensils.

This is probably the cheapest hotel with the 4 star. It has amazing views and the food buffet is the best. I travelled with my friends in here and stayed for 2 nights.

This is not the complete review of these hotels. This is just a preview of how it looks like and what is the score based on which is my favorite hotel for booking site. All photos are taken from my dslr, ipad and slr cam. I will give my full reviews for all these hotels the next time.

Travel stuffs with you on the go

My vacation to Philippines is coming soon. I don’t have yet enough pasalubong to bring for my relatives because my time at work is interfering my time to do shopping. Every 6 months I visit the Philippines for a short stay vacation. Why short stay? because I divide the allotted leave of absence in two. I also visit my family just to stay out from the work for a bit time, because you know our work as nurses are quite stressful. It’s not also cheaper to go back and forth to Philippines, though every year we have free ticket going to our homeland, still if you want to be out from your work every 6 months, you need to pay your other ticket by yourself. It’s also stressful to think for pasalubong since I do know that friends and relatives expects us OFW to bring something for them. So actually vacation is really not that easy thing to do, though the feeling of happiness being with your family is worth the stress after all.

So if your planning to go on a vacation wherever you are, I have listed some of the important things that you may need or not need to bring with you. If it’s your hometown, I’m quite sure that everything is in there right across the store or groceries. You knew it for sure. However if it’s not your place and your going to travel in a place where you don’t know if some stuffs are available, then better bring some spares with you. It’s better to be ready that sorry.

    1. Your Passport (International Travel) no need for (domestic flights) unless you are an alien of the country.

    2. Flight tickets and boarding passage plus your itinerary. You don’t want to be left by the plane because of losing your tickets right? also going to a new place is quite scary so you must have your itinerary or maps with you. You should know where you go.

    3. Check the kilos of your luggage ( Do not excess or you will pay for the extra kilos). This is so inconvenient especially if you don’t have enough cash. Always weight your luggage before checking in.

    4. Wallet, Cash, Debit Card, Credit Cards, and Identification (Identity document)- It is so important that you have the right cash with you and your ID which is a must that everyone should have.

    5. Comfortable clothes (Assorted). The weather of some place change from time to time so it’s better to bring some mixed clothes with you. Don’t forget your undies and bras for females and boxers for males.

    5. Napkins. Just in case that by chance that it is your calendar date of menstrual period, at least your save by the bell. You don’t want to have red alert on your back, don’t you?

    6. Iron straight hair, blower and Curler. This is optional but I guess this is a must for a traveler that wants her hair to be fixed the whole day. We don’t want bad hairs during picture taking are we?

    7. Make ups (Foundation, Blush-on, lipstick, Mascara, Eyeshadow, Concealer, Eyeliner etc.) You know girls that having a presentable face on public makes you look decent and professional. You don’t want to overdo it by applying heavy make ups. Just a few make up will do, so that to lighten up your face. I do still believe that simplicity is beauty with the small help of make up. We don’t want to look anemic in public.

    8. Mobile Phones- Before you travel make it sure that you let someone to know which place are you going. Leave them your phone number just in case and contact number of a person that you will be with. It is a mandatory that a person who is close to you must know this information because in any case that there is an emergency and I hope that there is none. This close person to you can reach you at any time. Don’t forget to charge your phone the whole night before you leave the house.

    9. Powerbank- I think this is now really a must. This is not just for technology sake. This will help you to stay charge all time so that there is no way that no one can reach you.

    10. Keys- Your keys from your house must be with you. You don’t want to locked up yourself outside and stays there for the whole time.

I think that’s just it for now. I will show you next time on how to plan your travel ahead of time. This is going to be an exciting because travelling is really my favourite.

    Carbonara Recipe: Cooking #1

One of the things that I love doing during my free time is cooking, especially during my off days from work. I will not call myself the expert chef here because I don’t have that chef degree but instead I will call myself the moody pseudochef. To tell you a brief history on how it all started my love for cooking, let me tell you that I don’t like cooking before. I don’t even know how to cook a rice. It all started when I worked in Jordan as a nurse. I don’t have a choice but to live my life alone and learned how to cook. So it all started with Tamarind Shrimp and Adobong Manok (Filipino Soysauce Style Chicken). That’s the first two dishes I’ve learned before and the rest is in the history. So today because I’m off and I’m craving for pasta, I’m going to show you how to cook a simple Carbonara. Just to let you know I do love pasta! like I can survived with just pasta and pizza…  So don’t be surprised that whenever you stumble upon this blog and I go and eat in the restaurant, pasta is always part of the menu. To start with, you need the following ingredients.

1 can of Cream (Any brand of cream will do)

half of the 1 kilo of fettucine (This is for solo eater like me)

Whole can of mushrooms (Cut it into pieces)

    Cheddar Cheese

    chicken hotdog (brown one preferred)

    Parmessan Cheese

4-5 pieces of garlic (fine chopped)

turkey bacon (I don’t have pork bacon here)

    salt & pepper to taste

    How to Cook:

    1. In a small pan, allow to cook the turkey bacon with it’s own oil just like your pork bacon. Usually this bacons have oil in their body lol. Set aside.

    2. In a large casserole, boil the water, add oil and salt. When it’s boiling enough, add the pasta.

    3. On the other side, In a large pan. Sauté the garlic (do not burn), add the hotdogs, mushrooms. When it looks brown, add the cream. Add 1 1/2 glasses of water. Let it boil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Do not forget to grind some cheddar cheese and parmessan cheese. Enough to taste a little bit salty and cheesy.

    4. When your pasta is aldente, remove it from the water and drain it. Place your pasta in a presentable container, then pour your sauce in the pasta. Mixed it well. Add the turkey bacon on top and put some cheddar and parmessan cheese. For chef looking, add parsley on the side. In my case, I don’t have parsley.

So that’s just it! It’s so easy and yummy. This is so good during friday or sunday nights with your love ones. Enjoy!

New blog for a new adventure

This is so exciting for me because it’s been a while since I stopped blogging. I don’t know but I have this feeling to get back to blogging all of a sudden. I hope that is a good sign and I do hope you agree with that. I was looking around, checking my good old friends in blogging on how they are now and it’s good to see that some of them is still updating their website. I was then inspired to officially open the Jeniffer Antonio- A lifestyle blog. No more drama or whatsoever. My new blog will consist of purely my personal lifestyle, food critique, restaurant hopping, place’s I’ve been to, make up, and some gorgeous female stuff. It’s gonna be a totally makeover of how I used to blog before.

I just want to say thank you to my host and for the domain freehostia . I hope that our relationship will last and I will have a very supportive host. I’m kinda struggling to remember how to create my own theme, so for now I’m going to use a premade theme which is available in studiomommydesign. I do hope in time, I’ll figure it out again how to create my own layout, which I do love doing before. It’s too early to launch my site and yet I want to have my very first entry which is the day I purchased the domain. Yeah I’m just the excited kid. Whatever you called that.So yeah for now, there is nothing to look around except for the awkward picture of mine on the sidebar lol. I’m still busy with some education and training stuff at work and I hope I will have time to update this blog in the coming weeks, months and years.
